The Moon of Benjar is a habitable moon orbiting the harsh planet of Benjar in the Ossren System. Unlike Benjar itself, the moon's atmosphere is accessible to most life forms, making it the only welcoming entry point into the Ossren System. This accessibility, combined with its proximity to the resource rich Orvessi Belt, made the Moon of Benjar a quiet but significant point of interest for several races across the galaxy.
The Ralix aggressively pursued trade agreements to gain access to the Orvessi Belt and its rare materials. The Benjin refused, telling the Ralix plainly to leave or suffer the consequence. The Chintallins followed suit. When the Ralix Uprising broke out, the Moon of Benjar became an early and devastating target. The attack swept the moon, catching the Chintallins and a half constructed Zarwillian outpost off guard. The Zarwillians, positioned on the moon under a protection agreement, fought back but could not stop the assault. The Moon of Benjar, once a quiet and peaceful home, became a symbol of what the Uprising truly cost.
The Chintallin
The Moon of Benjar was home to the Chintallin — a rare, intelligent and peaceful race with deep ties to the Benjin. Small in stature and non aggressive by nature, the Chintallins were known across the galaxy for their loyalty, their instinctive understanding of the world around them, and their long standing relationship with their Benjin neighbors.
The bond between the Chintallin and the Benjin runs deep. Though separated by the harsh atmosphere of Benjar itself, the two races developed a strong mutual respect over generations. The Chintallins, while not a military driven society, maintained a small but well trained fighting force. Joint military training exercises between the Chintallin and Benjin academies were a long standing tradition — bringing the two peoples together regularly and forging friendships that crossed racial lines. It was during one of these joint exercises that a young Chopper met Moju, beginning one of the most unlikely and enduring friendships in the galaxy.
Centuries of close contact between the two races meant that cross breeding, while uncommon, did occur. In most cases offspring would take on either Benjin or Chintallin traits entirely — there is no true half breed in the conventional sense. However, in extremely rare cases, a Chintallin born of mixed heritage can manifest Benjin characteristics — an ability to adapt to harsher environments, and in the rarest of instances, early signs of shape shifting. Because this occurrence is so uncommon and the traits so subtle, it often goes undetected entirely. Even those who carry it may live their whole lives without knowing what they are.
When the Ralix came seeking trade agreements for access to the Orvessi Belt, the Chintallins refused without hesitation — standing in solidarity with the Benjin and aligning with the broader resistance against Ralix expansion. They had little military presence and no significant defenses beyond their trained force, making them vulnerable despite their strategic location. The Ralix Uprising nearly wiped the Chintallin race from existence. Those who survived scattered across the galaxy, finding refuge where they could. The Chintallin are now considered an extremely rare and largely lost race. Their home is gone. But their legacy quietly lives on in those few who remain.
